A little less than two weeks ago, I made this mermaid cake for a friend who was throwing a birthday party for her baby girl who was turning one. Apparently she loves water, so it was only fitting to do an under the sea theme. It was my first time doing MMF ruffles on a cake, but it turned out beautifully and the cake was so adorable, especially on the table with all the other desserts and decorations. I made all the little trinkets on the cake out of MMF and it took a lot of trial and error with the mermaid topper, but once I started to piece it all together, I couldn’t have been happier with how it came out.
The decor for the party was stunning and super duper cute! Check out the jellyfishes hanging at the top!!! Down below are some closer shots of the cake. The top tier was a strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream, and the bottom was a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. Although this cake took a lot of time, I’m looking forward to making and creating more big cakes because seeing them come together is so satisfying. Plus, when people tell me they love it, I can’t help but have a smile on my face 😀 Oooooh and I’ll also be making a smash cake for this little girl coming up this week for her actual birthday, so be sure to look out for that one too!
